Civic Empowerment Initiative
Our mission is to challenge societal narratives and rewrite what’s possible for youth in disadvantaged neighborhoods in San Jose and the San Francisco Bay Area. We are youth advocates, community builders, and regular community people who open doors and dismantle the systemic barriers that have kept resources, knowledge, and opportunities out of reach for youth in our communities.
What We Do
We work with students – middle, high school and college – in under-resourced communities, opening doors that are too often closed before they even know they exist. We refuse to accept the boxes that society builds around young people based on their zip code or social economic circumstances. Through school tours beyond their immediate geography, support for student parents navigating education, and hands-on guidance through applications and opportunities. We ensure that lack of information or connections never limits a student’s potential.
Our model recognizes that empowerment isn’t just individual—it’s civic. When young people understand their power to shape both their futures and their communities, they don’t just succeed personally—they transform the systems that tried to limit them.
